Splendid little port protected by two fortified piers and lined with neoclassical houses. Worth seeing: statue of Cervantes.

This little port (Λιμάνι Ναυπάκτου/Limani Nafpaktou) is splendid. Protected by two fortified piers, the rounded basin is lined with neoclassical houses with a 35 m-wide opening onto the Gulf of Corinth. Located on the site of the ancient port, it was built by the Venetians between 1407 and 1499, then reinforced by the Ottomans. The eastern jetty houses a lighthouse and the Fethiye mosque (1500), while the western jetty features a statue of the writer Miguel de Cervantes (2000), who took part in the naval battle of Lepanto.
