Monastery rebuilt around 1700, with beautiful frescoes and a gilded wooden iconostasis. Access by car or footpath.
This sheepfold-like monastery (Ιερά Μονή Αγίου Νικολάου Μετσόβου/Iera Moni Agiou Nikolaou Mestovou) was founded in the 14th century and rebuilt around 1700. It is located near the Metsovitikos river and houses the Imperator winery (tasting available). The catholicon is adorned with beautiful frescoes painted between the end of the 17th century and 1702, as well as a gilded wooden iconostasis. The most precious icons are preserved in the Folklore Museum.
