The gourmet restaurant "caroube" (Χαρούπι/Haroupi or Charoupi) is run by Cretan Manolis Papoutsakis, one of the country's leading chefs. He revisits the classics of his island: tomatoes with galomizithra (fresh ewe's milk), zygouri lamb pie, carob ravioli, snails fried in rosemary, mature cheeses... All accompanied by a raki or a Manousakis organic wine, for example. We also recommend the Deka Trapezia ("ten tables") annex, near the White Tower. Reservations essential in both cases.
