TO STEKI TOU NIONIOU

"Le jardin du (golfe) Thermaïque" (Ο Κήπος του Θερμαϊκού) is a pretty little traditional Greek restaurant overlooking the White Tower. No garden to speak of, but the terrace borders a park (with statue) dedicated to Marseille-born Greek Pavlos Melas (1870-1904), who fought for Macedonia's reattachment to Greece. On the menu: mixed salads, fava with pickled onions, zucchini fritters, grilled mastello cheese with candied orange, Smyrna soutzoukakia (meatballs with tomato), octopus in red wine... Friendly service and reasonable prices.
