This film festival (Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου Θεσσαλονίκης/Diethnes Festival Kinimatografou Thessalonikis) is Greece's most prestigious. Founded in 1960, it has been run since 2016 by Nantes-based producer Élise Jalladeau. The focus is on films by Balkan and Mediterranean auteurs. Screenings take place mainly at the Olympion cinema-theater in Place Aristotelous. The winner is awarded a "Golden Alexander".
