Late Byzantine church. Rich brick decoration. Interesting fragments of frescoes painted in 1315. Unesco.
This late 13th-century church (Ιερός Ναός Αγίας Αικατερίνης/Ieros Naos Agia Aikatirinis) is one of 15 monuments in Thessaloniki listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site. It was part of a vanished monastery and was converted into a mosque (c. 1500-1912). Outside: rich brickwork, dome and four domes. Inside: large columns and interesting fragments of frescoes painted in 1315 in a "dynamic" style.
