STATUE OF ALEXANDER THE GREAT
Dating from 1974, this is the great statue of Alexander the Great in Greece: an equestrian bronze, 6.15 m high (and with a 5 m base).
This 6.15 m-high bronze equestrian statue (Άγαλμα Μεγάλου Αλεξάνδρου/Agalma Megalou Alexandrou) is the largest work representing Alexander the Great (356-323 BC) in Greece. Standing on a 5 m plinth, it depicts the conqueror riding the fiery Bucephalus. At their feet: eight sarisses (spears) and eight aspides (shields) from the Macedonian phalanx. The piece was created in 1974 by sculptor Evangelos Moustakas (b. 1930).
