LADADIKA DISTRICT
Tourist district opposite quay no. 1 in the port: colorful houses, cobbled streets, restaurants with terraces, concert halls..
This tourist district (Λαδάδικα) is charming with its cobbled streets and colorful houses. Above all, it's a festive place with plenty of discos, night bars and restaurants with terraces, including the very good Haroupi and Syn-Trofi. Ladadika was practically the only part of the lower town to be spared by the great fire of 1917. At the time, the district was mainly populated by Jewish dockworkers and was home to a large number of brothels and oil shops(ladi in Greek: the name comes from there).
