THESSALONIKI'S ROMAN AGORA
Archaeological site of the city's Roman forum ( century AD). Latrines, odeon, underground portico and small museum.
This 1.7-hectare archaeological site (Αρχαία Αγορά/Archaia Agora) houses the remains of the Roman forum, erected in the 2nd century AD on the site of the Macedonian agora. What remains are the latrines (near the ticket office), the odeon (where gladiatorial combat took place) and two porticoes, one of which is partly underground. The latter leads to the museum, which traces the history of the site. But the five major statues of the forum (Las Incantadas) are in the Louvre.
