DOMAINE GEROVASSILIOU
This is Thessaloniki's main market. It owes its name (Αγορά Καπάνι/Agora Kapani) to the former Un Kapan-ı grain hall of the vast Ottoman bazaar destroyed by fire in 1917. It stretches along Vlali Street (200 m long) and the transverse Menexe Street, both of which are largely covered, as well as the neighboring alleyways. You'll find everything here: meat, fish, fruit, vegetables, olives, spices... and also the pleasant Modigliani tavern under the arcades to the west. To the south: Modiano market and flower market.
