TORONI BEACH
Beautiful 2 km-long sandy beach in a circular arc. To the south, the small cape Likythos is occupied by the ruins of a Byzantine fort.
This beautiful arched sandy beach (Παραλία Τορώνης/Paralia Toronis) stretches for 2 km with clear, rapidly deep water where the ancient Toronè lies, 35 m from the shore. It's lined with just the right number of tavernas, cafés and deckchair rental outlets, but not too crowded in summer. To the south, the small cape Likythos is occupied by the ruins of a Byzantine fort, itself built on Toronè fortifications. From here, the path leads to the hill overlooking Porto Koufo Bay (1.6 km) and to the German bunker at Kanonia (2.3 km).
