The largest freshwater aquarium in the Balkans, with 49 tanks housing 56 species of fish.

This aquarium (Ενυδρείο Καστοριάς/Enydrio Kastorias) is the largest in the Balkans for freshwater flora and fauna. It consists of 49 reservoirs of 1,000 to 1,600 liters each housing 56 species of fish living mainly in Lake Orestiada and the Aliakmon River: pike, tench, rainbow trout, Bulgarian gudgeon, eel, wels catfish, common, Prussian and grass carp, common and Japanese perch... The star fish here is the sturgeon, in danger of extinction in Greece. There are also molluscs such as the thick mullet.
