MONASTÈRE DE LA PANAGIA PORPHYRA

This ancient monastery (Ιερά Μονή Παναγίας Πορφύρας/Iera Moni Panagias Porfyras) was founded in 1524. Amid the ruins of the annex buildings, the catholicon preserves frescoes from the ^15th century, including the scene of the Dormition of the Virgin and a portrait of the Virgin Vrefokratousa ("holding the Child"), and from the ^18th century, including a depiction of the Virgin of the Blachernes and portraits of St. Germain of Epirus and St. Achilles of Larissa.
