LIVITHRA ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE
Site of the ancient city of Levithra, which, according to Greek mythology, was the site of Orpheus' tomb. Necropolis, dwellings..
This site (Αρχαιολογικός Χώρος Λειβήθρων/Archaiologikos Choros Livithron) houses the remains of the city of Levithra, which was occupied from the 8th century B.C. to the 1st century A.D. It is here that mythology places the tomb of Orpheus. Several tombs of important figures have been discovered, and some of their contents are on display in the Dion Museum. Also on site: relocated tombs and the reconstruction of a 2nd millennium BC village near Platamonas.
