SAINT-PIERRE DE MOZAC ABBEY
Abbey with a western bell tower-porch, an abbey church classified as a historical monument and containing a beautiful collection of lapidary.
The abbey was founded by Saint Calmin in the 7th century. The relics of Saint Austremoine were transferred here from Volvic in the 9th century. In 1095, it became part of Cluny. The oldest remains date from the 11th century: part of the bell tower-porch and the crypt. Partially destroyed by an earthquake, the church was restored in the 15th century. It contains an impressive collection of sculpted capitals and the largest 12th-century shrine in champlevé Limoges enamel.
