This 16th-century church (Ιερός Ναός Αγίου Δημητρίου Παλατιτσίων/Ieros Naos Agiou Dimitriou Palatitsion) is part of the Unesco site of Vergina. It houses superb frescoes executed by the painter Nikolaos de Linotopi in 1570. In the narthex, the Apocalypse program includes a rare depiction of Alexander the Great in the guise of a Byzantine emperor. Most of the stones in this vast three-aisled basilica come from the ancient palace of Aigai.
