NYMPHÉE DE MIEZA
A beautiful, little-known spot in the heart of nature near Naoussa, where the young future Alexander the Great was educated by Aristotle.
It was here (Νυμφαίον Μίεζας/Mymfaion Miezas) that the future Alexander the Great was educated by the philosopher Aristotle between the ages of 13 and 15 (343-340 BC) in the company of other young Macedonian noblemen. A little-visited site, it's as charming as it is moving: in the middle of nature, near an ancient sacred spring (nymphaeum), a cliff preserves the cavities and holes of the beams that sheltered Aristotle's School. Nearby is a cultural center with random opening hours (information, guided tours and store).
