EDESSA WATERFALLS
From the cliffs in the town center, 12 branches of the Edesseos River flow down. The highest waterfall (70 m) is visible from a pleasant park.
These natural waterfalls (Καταρράκτες Έδεσσας/Katarraktes Edessas) are the main attraction of the town center. Since an earthquake in the 14th century, the Edesseos River has split into several branches that flow off the Edessa cliffs in twelve waterfalls. Four of these can be seen from the "Waterfalls Park" below, including the Karanos waterfall, which jumps 70 m in height. In the park: information center, aquarium-vivarium, Katarraktes café-restaurant, The Mill café and open-air summer cinema.
