AGGITIS CAVE

This cave (Σπήλαιο Αγγίτη/Spilaio Aggiti) is spectacular. Here, the Aggitis River flows beneath Mount Falakro for 12.5 km. Although only 500 m are set aside for visits, the route is superb: first hall dug in the ^19th century with a restored 8 m diameter mill, then passage open to the outside and last hall with footbridge above the waters under a ceiling of stalactites. Make sure you bring a jacket, as it's 17°C in the cave (also known as Maaras). Nearby: waterfalls, picnic area and café-tavern.
