AGGITIS CAVE
Cave with underground river. Beautifully landscaped trail with mill, footbridge over the water, stalactites..
This cave (Σπήλαιο Αγγίτη/Spilaio Aggiti) is spectacular. Here, the Aggitis River flows beneath Mount Falakro for 12.5 km. Although only 500 m are set aside for visits, the route is superb: a hall dug out in the 19th century with a restored mill 8 m in diameter, then a passage open to the outside and the final hall with a footbridge above the waters under a ceiling of stalactites. Make sure you bring a jacket, as it's 17°C in the cave (also known as Maaras). Nearby: waterfalls, picnic area and café-tavern.
