MONASTERY TIMIOS PRODROMOS DE SERRES
Monastery founded in the century but damaged several times. Small museum and beautiful iconostasis. Pleasant valley for hiking.
This monastery dedicated to St. John the Baptist (Ιερά Μονή Τιμίου Προδρόμου/Iera Moni Timiou Prodromou) occupies a beautiful wooded valley with a pleasant hiking trail using small stone bridges over the Vrontous ("Thunder") river. It was founded in the 13th century and damaged several times, most recently by fire in 2010. Occupied by a community of nuns, the monastery houses a small museum and a beautiful iconostasis dating from 1804.
