TOMBEAU DE KASTA
Tumulus housing a rich burial chamber of Alexander the Great's closest relatives (wife, son and lover). Scheduled to open in 2027.
Shrouded in mystery, this archaeological site (Τύμβος Καστά/Timvos Kasta) could be opened in 2027. This is a late 4th century BC tumulus 30 m high and 158 m in diameter, surrounded by a circular marble wall. Since 2014, excavations have uncovered a rich burial chamber with five skeletons. This could be the tomb of Hephaestion (356-324 BC), general and lover of Alexander the Great, and/or that of Alexander's wife and son, Roxane and Alexander IV, murdered at Amphipolis in -310.
