With its beautiful terrace under the great rocky column of Ambaria (400 m above sea level), this panoramic restaurant offers fine cuisine based on local produce: melting lamb, truffle risotto, beef casserole and the very rare katerini steak, an ancestral Greek breed of bovine raised by an enthusiast in Avra, east of Kalambaka. For a digestive hike, follow the M14 trail for 1.5 km to Kastraki and the Vrysi Neraida ("Fountain of the Fairies") spring, passing beneath the ancient Agios Nikolaos Bovada hermitage.
