This small cave (Σπηλιά του Χείρωνα/Spilia tou Chirona) is associated with Chiron, the most famous of the centaurs, the half-man, half-animal creatures that populated Pelion according to mythology. Visitors have laid out branches and pebbles, as if to suggest that it was here that the wise son of Cronos shared his knowledge with Artemis and Apollo. The site is accessible via a signposted footpath from the train station. Note that two other Pelion caves bear the same name, near Mouresi (to the east) and Lafkos (to the south).
