CENTAUR TRAIL
Marked 1.9 km hiking trail in the forest above Portaria. Named after the Centaurs of mythology.
This little trail (Μονοπάτι των Κενταύρων/Monopati ton Kentavron) passes through the forest just above Portaria. Its name refers to the centaurs, half-man half-horse creatures of Greek mythology who originally lived in Pelion. The path passes under the arched gateway of an old power station and follows a stream spanned by five small bridges to a fountain at 729 m altitude. You can then return by road (2.7 km in total). In places, the trail still bears the scars of the severe floods of 2023.
