ANCIENT THEATER OF DEMETRIAS
Theater of the ancient city of Demetrias, founded in 293 BC by Demetrios Poliorcetes. Visits all year round and concerts in summer.
This theater (Αρχαίο θέατρο Δημητριάδος/Archaio Theatro Dimitriados) belonged to the city of Demetrias founded in 293 BC by the Macedonian general Demetrios Poliorcetes. With a diameter of 24.14 m, it could accommodate over 2,500 people for shows and ceremonies, but only the front rows are well preserved. Renovated in 2013, it hosts concerts in July and August. To the east: aqueduct and site of the palace of Demetrias (same times).
