Throughout Greece, the merits of Volos halva are extolled. Well, it's been made here since 1919, at the halvadopiïa Papagiannopoulos (Χαλβαδοποιία Παπαγιαννόπουλος). This "halva factory" produces the sesame version as in Lebanon or Turkey with all sorts of variations: chocolate, hazelnut and raisin, Chios mastic, lemon and cinnamon... and even sugar-free. What's more, they're easy to pack in your suitcase! Still going strong from the 1980s, the little store also sells loukoums and tahini.
