Built on an islet in Lake Vistonida and linked to the shore by a wooden footbridge, this monastery is believed to have been founded during the Ottoman period. It is part of the Vatopedi monastery of Athos. It is a stopover point for entire colonies of birds on their migration north and south. If Porto Lagos doesn't seem very exciting during the day, why not observe this unique fauna and return to Porto Lagos at sunset, when the fishing village comes to life.
