ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM
Archaeological museum exhibiting pieces from ancient sites and the Cycladic period.
Near the main square of Chora, this small museum is one of the most interesting in the Cyclades, with unique finds from the Neolithic and later periods. Open since the 1970s, it was renovated and expanded in 2000 to accommodate new exhibits. The rooms present daily life, worship and burial customs. The most beautiful pieces are marble protocycladic figurines from the prehistoric settlement of Aghia Irini, reliefs from the pediment of the temple of Athena in Karthaia and the headless statue of Victory.
