From the port of Koundouros, head by boat to Cape Tamelos and its 1893 lighthouse, Kea's southernmost, and on to Poleis Bay. There, you can visit the ruins of the ancient city of Karthaia (Καρθαία). On this archaeological site you can see: the temples of Athena and Apollo Pythios (5th century BC), fortifications (6th-4th centuries BC) and a theater (2nd century BC). Enjoy a day trip to the secluded beaches of Mikres Poleis and Megales Poleis.
