BEACHES

To reach the most beautiful beaches of Kythnos, you will often have to be driven from the port. But in any case, there is usually something for everyone.

The beach of Merichas is not the most pleasant, but it can be used if you urgently need to swim. Otherwise, only a few minutes away, the beaches to the north of the port offer great swimming opportunities.

The beach of Martinakia, north of the harbor, is a 5-minute walk away by a series of steps. A small stretch of sand, shaded by tamarisk trees, Martinakia is very popular with families. You will find plenty to eat there. For a little more peace and quiet, choose the tree-lined beach ofEpiskopi, further north. There you will find an elegant beach bar, the Pountaki, for a drink or a bite to eat.

Apokrissi beach,about 3 km away, is one of the largest in Kythnos. It is a long stretch of sand and has the advantage of being very well shaded. The Coconuts Beach Bar can be a bit noisy, but you can drink good fresh juices or cocktails there.

Kolona and Fikiada are two Siamese beaches, surely the most beautiful of Kythnos. Separated by a narrow strip of sand, they constitute a very surprising site. You can get there by road or by sea-taxi. In summer, the accumulation of sailboats unfortunately tends to spoil the scenery a bit for the bathers, but don't miss it. The beautiful beach bar Kolona is a heavenly place to have a cocktail or to enjoy a grilled fish.
