Discover the island of Sifnos and the streets of Artemonas
Henri Cartier-Bresson, the French master of photography and co-founder of the Magnum agency, stayed in Sifnos in the 1960s. A particularly well-known photograph, L'Ile de Sifnos, depicts a little girl climbing the steps of an alleyway in Artemonas. Fans will still find a print of the photo hanging in the Mozaico restaurant. It was in 1961, the little girl was 6 years old. She has since grown up a lot... ...then she got old. She still lives in Artemonas today and her five children have in turn had children in the village.
