A beautiful church with a magnificent iconostasis in Ermoupolis.
This church (Εκκλησία Αγίου Νικολάου) was built in the 19th century with the support of King Othon I and the help of shipowners to celebrate Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of Syros. Its magnificent marble façade, imposing spires and sky-blue dome have made it one of the island's main attractions. The busy interiors do not overshadow the magnificent iconostasis. Among its splendors: the icon of St. Nicholas, silver-plated in Moscow, and the sovereign marble throne.
