Restaurant with excellent truffles in an old inn, perfect for hikers
Since 2008, Nicolas and Virginie Framit have been running this former inn, founded in 1826. The place is well known to hikers, as it marks the start of the muleteers' trail that winds up to the summit of the Puy de Dôme. The stonework, beams and open fire create a delightful old-fashioned atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The plates are carefully prepared and generous, and the truffade is excellent! Pastries, drinks, ice creams and crêpes are served all day long, depending on the season. When the weather's fine, the terrace is packed.

Gros mangeurs, préparez votre estomac ! ????
On the new table, we waited for another 15 minutes before someone came to us. They gave us the menu which only consisted of dessert and coffee, definitely not something we’re looking for. I don’t know if they don’t serve meals after 2 or not, but it would’ve been nice if they could have told us to begin with. Mind you the waitress saw us coming in, said nothing and just let us sit without taking our order.
We were very interested in trying their food as the reviews are great, the pictures look good, and some guy on the other table had a meal that smelled amazing. But we were too upset about the service that we ended up just leaving. I guess we’re the unlucky ones amongst those who has had “an amazing service”.
