MERCURY TEMPLE
Remains of the largest mountain temple, located in Orcines, built two centuries after the Roman conquest of Gaul.
At the summit of the Puy de Dôme, the Gallo-Roman temple enjoys an ideal view of Augustonemetum, the ancient name of the city of Clermont. Built two centuries after the Roman conquest of Gaul, it was dedicated to Mercury, protector of travelers and merchants. In the interpretation area, visitors can discover the secrets of the site. Now, thanks to an immersive virtual and augmented reality experience with a headset, visitors can walk through the heart of the original temple. Guided tours are also available.
