An 8,000-year-old volcano in Orcines, culminating at an altitude of 1,120 metres, makes for a pleasant walk.
The puy de Pariou, famous for its rounded contours immortalized by a major mineral water brand, is an ideal destination for a family outing. Accessible from a number of starting points, it's a fairly easy climb up wooden staircases. This young volcano, some 8,000 years old, rises to an altitude of 1,210 metres. Its crater is the deepest in the Chaîne des Puys, but we don't go down to preserve it. From the summit, the panorama stretches from the Forez mountains to the Combrailles, from the Limagne plain to the Sancy massif.
