Temple and healing center welcoming travelers and patients.

This temple was once so important that travelers came from all over Greece to make offerings to the Sea God. In the5th century B.C., Tinos became an important religious centre, especially dedicated to the cult of Poseidon. This sanctuary also served as a healing center and the power of Kionia is considered to be as strong as that of the temple of Asclepius in Epidaurus. Patients came from afar to participate in healing rituals.
