Overlooking the village, you'll see a contemporary building: this is where the Marble Museum (Μουσείο Μαρμαροτεχνίας) opened in 2008 to highlight the history of marble craftsmanship in Tinos. Here we learn about the techniques used to extract marble and the tools and equipment needed to work it. But we also learn about the social and economic context in which this craft developed in the region. The pre-industrial period is highlighted as the peak of marble craftsmanship on the island.
