Monastery at Cape Kalamos with remains of a temple dedicated to Apollo.
This monastery (Το μοναστήρι της Ζωοδόχου Πηγής) is built on the spot where Jason and the Argonauts are said to have dedicated a temple to Apollo to thank the god for saving them from the storm by raising Anafi from the waves. Remains of the original temple are still visible, integrated into the monastery's surrounding walls. The island's biggest religious celebrations take place here on September 7 and 8. Don't miss the chance to dance and feast with the locals!
