Beaches offering various advantages on the islet of Armathia.
The beaches of Kassos are numerous and offer a variety of advantages: there's something for everyone. Some of these beaches are accessible by car, while others require walking. For the best beaches, head for the islet of Armathia, opposite Fri, where caiques operate from the port. The beaches on the west coast should be avoided on windy days.
Near Fri: Emborios beach is quite busy, due to its proximity to the port. Families love the stretch of sand and the delicious lunches and fresh fish on offer at the local tavern.
To the west: the sandy beach of Ammoua is accessible by car and has a beach bar. Further on, one cove after another leads to Trita and its arch. Ideal for sunsets, they are exposed to the wind.
At the southern tip: from the monastery of Saint-Georges, a dirt road leads to the small, undeveloped beach of Avlaki. Allow around 1 hour's walk, otherwise accessible by car (drive carefully!). Not far away, the beautiful bay of Chochlakia is a wild pebble beach. Accessible by car, at the end of a long winding road, Helatros beach is a little paradise. Here you'll find a pleasant straw hut and a few deckchairs. These beaches on the Libyan Sea are emerald in color.
The islet of Armathia is home to the most beautiful beaches on Kassos, including the sumptuous white-sand Marmara beach, one of the most beautiful in all Greece. Caiques will take you there from Fri.
