PALEOKASTRO
Towards the highest point of the island and its military base, you will cross a crowned summit of the Paleokastro. It is the island's ancient fortified acropolis dating back to the 4th century BC. Inside, you will find Doric inscriptions that mention the name of Megiste, the other name of the island. Admire the massive cisterns that used to collect rainwater. Largely bombarded during the two world wars, the site is now nothing more than ruins but it is sumptuous, dominating Turkey and the open sea. Don't miss the sunset, an unforgettable memory.
