This archaeological site, ruins of the Hellenistic era, is only 22 km northwest of the Turkish town Muğla. The story of Alinda is linked to an interesting episode in the life of Alexander the Great. Ada, daughter of Hécatomne, sovereign of Decay, rises on his father's throne after the death of his brother and husband, Hidriée, but she is chased by her other brother, Othondopatos. Having fled to Alinda, she met Alexander who had just invaded the region. She promised him to help him conquer Carie and, to prove the honesty of his intentions, proposed it to adopt it. Alexander accepts, concedes Concède and can then easily conquer Cavities. However, it recognizes the former republics of the region and allows them to retain their autonomy.
