BEACHES
Beaches of Nissiros including that of Hochlaki, the baths of Loutra, that of Pachia Ammos for nudists.
Nissiros is not known for its beaches: they are rare, certainly, but nevertheless quite unique. They are all located in the vicinity of Mandraki and are fairly easily accessible. In the village itself, the small sandy area of Aghios Savvas is appreciated by locals and families but is of little interest.
On the other side of Panaghia Spiliani, a coastal path bypasses the rock and gives access to the surprising beach of Hochlaki. It is a beach of large black pebbles, of volcanic origin of course and which seriously heat up in the sun. The sea is rough but the view is stunning and regulars have climbed magnificent cairns with these unique pebbles. Be careful: don't take pebbles as a souvenir, if everyone did that, there would be nothing left of this amazing beach.
The coast between the port of Mandraki and Pali has some pebble beaches, especially at the Loutra baths, but they are not very welcoming because they receive the north wind. They can therefore be quite hectic and impractical but they are quickly accessible by foot from the centre of the village
It is necessary to continue on the coast towards the east to find long magnificent stretches, with the beach of Lies first and then, above all, the sandy beach of Pachia Ammos, a paradise for nudists and campers. It is reached by a path on the hillside at the end of the beach of Lies. The waters are magical and clear. Watch your feet: the sand is hot during the day.
