ARXONTIKO SIMANTIRI
Typical house of Chora representing the architecture and the way of life of the rich notables of the XVIIth century.
This typical Chora house is tucked away in an alleyway between the town hall square and the peaceful Zoodochos Pigi convent. It has recently been opened to visitors. Here, you'll discover the architecture and lifestyle that prevailed in this part of town among the wealthy notables of the early 17th century. This beautifully preserved villa has belonged to the same Simantiris family since 1625: originally from Smyrna in Asia Minor, the family's history takes them to Patmos, then Odessa and the United States.
