PLACE MARTYRON EVREON
Authentic square with a Jewish museum in Rhodes City.
This pretty square with a terrible history marks the gateway to the Jewish quarter of Rhodes, more authentic than the other districts of the old city. It was here that, on July 23, 1944, 1,673 Jews were gathered by the Nazis to be deported to Auschwitz. Every year, a ceremony is held there to commemorate this tragic date. Stroll through the alleys, soak up the special atmosphere that still prevails in the old Juderia and do not miss a visit to the Jewish Museum of Rhodes, which traces the history of the community.
