Kastro among the imposing Aegean fortresses with a promontory, offering a beautiful view
Impossible to miss the silhouette of the kastro: this imposing citadel is one of the most impressive Aegean fortresses! It was built from the 12th century by the Byzantines and completed by the successive masters of the island (Venetians, Genoese and Ottomans). Its promontory is worth a look and some effort, but the view from the top is splendid. It is best to go up early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the heat. You may be lucky enough to see the beautiful deer that live on the hill, in complete freedom.
