The north of Lemnos has many geological surprises. Among them, do not miss the sand dunes of Ammothines, impressive sandy hills near the beach of Gomati (less than 20 km from Myrina). These landscapes are more reminiscent of the Sahara or the deserts of the Arabian Peninsula than a Greek island! Further east (25 km from Myrina), the geological park of Faraklo is of a striking beauty, with its volcanic formations with round silhouettes and its warm colors. The red ochre of the rock contrasts with the blue of the Aegean.
