THEOPHILOS MUSEUM
Museum housing a beautiful collection of works of the primitive painter through paintings
The museum pays homage to Theophilos, a so-called naive painter who was born here in 1873. This modest house houses some 90 works of the primitive painter, who brilliantly illustrated Greek history and local folklore through his touching paintings. Here you can learn about his work through a beautiful exhibition of his most characteristic works. Theophilos lived very poorly and it was only after his death in 1934 that his talent was fully recognized, notably through the patron Tériade. His work was exhibited in the Louvre in 1961.
