The monastery of the Dormition of the Virgin is located about 15 km from the port: to get there, ask a resident to drive you there. On the way, you will be able to appreciate the arid landscapes of the heart of the island, punctuated by a multitude of small chapels. Its library preserves rare editions and one appreciates this end of the world, and its pretty katholikon. It is said that it housed an icon painted by El Greco that Psariote refugees fleeing the massacre would have taken with them to the island of Syros, where it still stands today.
