TUNNEL D'EUPALINOS
This tunnel, a feat of ancient technology listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was created in the 6th century BC by Eupalinos. At the time of the tyrant Polycrates, Pythagorion was living a golden age and developing a dependence on water, which was scarce in the city. The tyrant asked the architect-engineer to design a hydraulic transport system from the springs of the surrounding hills to supply the city with water. The underground tunnel of more than 1 km long took ten years to build. Today, you can enter the narrow tunnel for almost 200 meters. Claustrophobic people should not enter.
