Archaeological museum exhibiting a collection of statues and steles from the excavations

The Pythagorion Archaeological Museum was inaugurated in 2010 and attracts more and more visitors every year. On its modern and bright ground floor, the exhibits tell the story of the ancient city of Samos. Among the most moving pieces are children's graves. Otherwise, a collection of statues and stelae from the excavations carried out on the island. Among the most important pieces is a marble statue of seated Aiakes (father of Polycats), dedicated to Hera and probably acquired by piracy, discovered in 540 BC.
